Tips on How to Get More Traffic to Your Blog- Part 2

Previously, we had spoken about avoiding Black Hat SEO techniques and getting more backlinks through article marketing. Here are some more tips on getting more traffic to your blog.

Update your blog continuously

Fresh and new content is something that Google always is on the lookout for. Continuous and frequent posting of blogs will bring in more traffic to your site. Google will index those sites that update their content continuously more often.

Create original content

You must make sure that your site is a source of good information and not merely a copy-paste of posts from other sites. Google does keep a check on how well your content is being shared as this is an indicator of how well your blog is doing. Copying content from other sites will destroy your site’s authority as well as get you banned immediately.

Blog on Tending Topics

You can build your blog around popular events that are in the news at the moment. Many people search for these topics and if you are able to provide the relevant content, then Google will rank you higher, bringing in traffic to your site.

Encourage Guest Blogs

Posts or blogs from guests will help index your site quickly, and increase backlinks. Posting on quality and trustworthy blogs will improve the authority of your blog.

By using these tips, you can attract relevant visitors to your site and increase traffic to your blog through search engines.

Social Media and SEO Go Hand in Hand

Social Media Marketing is the most effective method of online marketing. Ever since social media networks like Facebook, Twitter, and LinkedIn came into existence, people have been using these to stay in touch with their family or friends. But, these networks have been a blessing in disguise for businesses. Through these networks, businesses have come in direct contact with their existing and prospective customers.

These networks have integrated people spread all over the world, into a single community. Social media networks are certainly addictive but without the correct content and proper use of relevant keywords, these networks will not serve any purpose. This is where search engine optimization (SEO) plays a key role.

SEO involves researching for a particular topic and then choosing the keywords for it. The next step of SEO is to include significant content on that topic and re-structure the Website so that it ranks among the first ten results in the search engines. Remember, users hardly go beyond the first page of search engine result listings so it is imperative that your site has a good ranking. This will help in directing more traffic to your site.

Ideally, you should install Google AdWords Keyword Tool to calculate the number of clicks you receive by researching related keywords and content. Include these in your blog. Social Media Marketing combined with SEO can take online marketing to a different level altogether.

Is Your Blog SEO Ready?

Social networking sites like Twitter, Facebook, and MySpace are ideal for building your network of contacts and expressing yourself on the Internet. But the best way for you to voice your views and do it in such a way that the content you create is archived, updated, and optimized, is to maintain a blog. Blogging is very useful in sharing your ideas on the Web.

But merely writing a blog is not enough. You have to get people to read and respond to it. There are millions of blogs all over the Internet and if your blog does not reach out and generate any response then it becomes worthless.

By optimizing your blog for search engines you can increase its chances of visibility in search engine result pages. Of course you may opt for direct advertising but that is very costly. SEO is more effective and will get you immediate results. For those who are not familiar with the method, SEO helps in placing your blog at a top spot for particular keywords in a search engine like Google.

Here are some SEO tips for your blog:-

  • The links should be easy to read for the search engines. The blog link should contain the title of the post, not the order of the post which is usually a set of random numbers. Change your link settings from the blogging software that you use.
  • Your code should be clear and optimized. Nowadays Google checks the time it takes to load a certain Web page. If your speed is slow it might affect your ranking on the search engine. Make sure that you don

Twitter: The most misunderstood social media tool for small businesses

mm_twitter

Even though 25 to 30 million people registered for Twitter between late 2009 and early 2010 (and company projections estimate 1 billion users by 2013), Twitter remains one of the most misunderstood social media tool for small business owners.
Avoiding Twitter could cost you money if you don’t take advantage of it.  Too bold of a statement?
Think about it, at some point there was  a time that the idea of the internet seemed very foreign to you. There was even a time when the idea suggesting every home could have a personal computer seemed impossible. But now the business community at large can’t imagine being able to conduct business without the internet or a computer.
With that said, admittedly Twitter may not be right for every business, but there is a way it can work for most.
One of the misperceptions is Twitter is only useful if you have a national or worldwide product or service. The fact is, local businesses can connect to local followers on Twitter and build a local following.

Here are some quick Twitter tips and resources for you:

To blog, or not to blog? That is the no longer the question.

Last month we blogged about how the fastest way to increase search engine rankings is to consistently provide fresh content through blogging. We titled that post “Is Blogging the New SEO?”

Research on Social Media Blogging
Now we have some back up: Hubspot released research based on their actual customers on how a blog impacts their business.

The study is taken from a sample size of 1,531 of their customers which are primarily small and mid-sized businesses. Roughly half (795) blog and half don

Is Blogging the New SEO?

BlogSearch Engine Optimization (SEO) was the buzz of the past few years. The elusive answer to the question, “How do I get my website to show up higher on the search engines?”

There are thousands of “SEO firms” or “SEO consultants” that will tell you they can help you. And that may cost you a lot of money. These firms usually aren’t cheap. When considering one’s that are cheap, just keep in mind you may get what you pay for.

In a recent article in Entrepreneur Magazine, entitled “What you Don’t Know About SEO”, there are several insights business owners should consider before making a (potentially unwise) decision to go with a SEO firm or consultant.

Probably the most insightful paragraph in the article is:

“What gets their (the search engines) attention? Good, fresh, focused content. Adding a blog is one of the easiest and most straightforward ways to bulk up on content. If you sell hair-removal devices, for instance, start a blog that explores all aspects of waxing, plucking, threading, electrolysis and so on. Over time, your site will accrue searchable heft.”

What’s this all mean? This means if you’re patient (and by patient it means 3-6 months) and you blog consistently over time, you will get results on the Search Engines. We know this first hand from testing this with real blogs, with real clients. It works.

It takes time and consistent effort. And that’s the real secret of social media – it doesn’t happen overnight.

But it will happen.

And it will be a lot more cost effective – particularly for the smaller company or business wanting to compete with the big dogs online.
